1-0 Victory Brings the Club its First USYSA Championship

In a hard-fought match with the venerable FC Dallas, a header by Sean Fitzgerald from a corner kick by Jack Harrison.late in the match gave PSG - and MSC - their first USYSA National Championship.

Going 4-0-1 for the tournament, Wilson Egidio's PSG 96, State and Regional Champions, brought home MSC's first USYSA National Championship, defeating FC Dallas 1-0 in a hard-fought final on Sunday at the Maryland Soccer Plex in Germantown, MD.

Center back Sean Fitzgerland headed in a perfectly placed corner by Jack Harrison for the game winner in the 84th minute. PSG then held off incessant attacks from FC Dallas to preserve the shitout for keeper Gerardo Amigon.

Amigon won the tournament's "Golden Glove," Harrison the "Golden Ball."

PSG 96 started the tournament slowly, drawing with Chicago Fire Youth Soccer Club 1-1 in their first match. They then found the gas pedal, defeating Cincinnati United Premier 6-1 on Wednesday, and FC Golden State 4-0 on Thursday for a remarkable 11 goals in group play. The boys' nerves were tested in the semifinal vs. two-time National Champions from Fullerton Rangers, Cal-South, which PSG won in PKs.

Top Drawer Soccer already had PSG ranked #1 in the nation, but with the national title, recognition is starting to come in. SoccerWire is calling MSC the "breakout team" of the tournament.
