Ray Selvadurai
ABOUT:
Ray enters his eighteenth year at Manhattan Soccer Club as a head coach, and fifth as Director of Coaching.
In 2014, Ray achieved a coaching milestone in capturing MSC’s first ever National Championship at the NPL Finals in Greensboro, NC with the U18 PSG 95. In 2016, Ray brought home MSC’s second National Championship at the NPL Finals in Aurora, CO with the U16 Manhattan Villa that garnered the #1 national ranking by gotsoccer.com.
Over the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Ray spearheaded a boys program that produced eleven (11) New York State championship teams.
Ray also runs the Manhattan Soccer Club U23 Men’s Program that has captured three championships in the last five years that include the 2013 ENYSSA U23 State Championship and two EDP Super Club U23 Championships in 2012 and 2016.
During his tenure, Ray has helped produce numerous NCAA Division I, II, III and NJCAA college players; many who have gone on to earn team captain All-America, NCAA National Champion and NCAA National Player of the Year Honors. Five of his former MSC players have gone on to the professional ranks and been selected to Youth National Teams. Seven (7) of his former players have gone on to earn High School All-America honors from the NSCAA & TopDrawerSoccer and have participated in the annual Continental Hotels High School All-America Game.
In 2015-2016, MSC garnered prestigious national acclaim as the club soccer home to the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year, NSCAA High School and College All America, ACC Player Of Year (Wake Forest) and MLS Super Draft #1 pick Jack Harrison of NYCFC.
A former youth standout at early 90’s national power Syosset High School on Long Island, Ray earned major recognition as a youth player at the State and Regional ODP levels. A four-year starter in 76 consecutive matches and team captain at Brandeis University, Ray earned NSCAA Regional All-America, All-UAA and was selected to the NEISL All-New England Senior Bowl (for all Divisions) as a collegian. Ray led Brandeis to a ECAC New England Championship.
Currently, Ray serves as an Executive Board Member of EDP (Elite Development Program), DOC Leadership for the New York City FC Youth Affiliate Program (MLS), and has been selected for numerous US CLUB SOCCER id2 National Identification Camps that helps identify players for future USSF National Team camps. Ray also serves as a member of the Brandeis University Men’s Soccer Alumni Board.
