Director of Coaching
Ray enters his seventeenth year at Manhattan Soccer Club as a head coach, and fourth as Director of Coaching. In 2014, Ray achieved a coaching milestone in capturing MSC's first National Championship at the NPL Finals in Greensboro, NC with the U18 PSG 95. In 2015, he spearheaded a boys program that produced seven New York State championship teams, a competition record. During his tenure, Ray has helped produce numerous NCAA Division I, II, III and NJCAA college players; many who have gone on to earn team captain and All-America honors. Four of his former MSC players have gone on to the professional ranks and been selected to National Teams. During Ray's tenure as Director, six players have gone on to earn High School All-America honors from the NSCAA & TopDrawerSoccer and have participated in the annual Continental Hotels High School All-America Game. In 2015, MSC garnered a prestigious national honor as the club soccer home to the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year, Jack Harrison.
A former youth standout at early 90's national power Syosset High School on Long Island, Ray earned major recognition as a youth player at the State and Regional ODP levels. A four-year starter in 76 consecutive matches and team captain at Brandeis University, Ray earned NSCAA Regional All-America , All-UAA and was selected to the NEISL All-New England Senior Bowl (for all Divisions) as a collegian. Ray led Brandeis to a ECAC New England Championship.
Currently, Ray serves as an Executive Board Member of EDP (Eastern Development Program), DOC Leadership for the New York City FC Youth Affiliate Program (MLS), and has been selected for numerous US CLUB SOCCER id2 National Identification Camps that helps identify players for future USSF National Team camps. Ray holds state, regional and national coaching licenses from the NSCAA and USSF, as well as a National Director of Coaching License.

Jason Weisberg is currently the Women's Assistant Coach at Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University, has coached with the Manhattan College and Dominican College men’s program's, and was an assistant women's coach at Iona from 2007-2010. He is a former Director of Coaching at Middlepath FC and ECNL coach at Alberston SC. Jason is a Region 1 Olympic Development (ODP) Staff coach, and has been a State ODP head coach since 2002 as well as a scout for U.S. Soccer Training centers. in 2015 his '98 ENY North team qualified as one of the final four teams for a birth at ODP Nationals in Arizona. He has a masters degree in counseling Psychology. Jason played his Collegiate soccer at Stony Brook University and holds a USSF "A" license, USSF Youth license and an NSCAA Premier Diploma.

John made his professional debut at the age of 17 for Sunderland in the English Premier League and played for the Black Cats for several years, including 1973 when Sunderland captured the FA Cup. His professional playing career included stops at Mansfield Town, Carlisle and Portsmouth, where he was team captain. Lathan coached in Australia and South Africa before moving to New York in 2003. John coached MSC Ajax, who graduated in 2013, to the most successful record in club history, including three State Cups, three Region 1 Premier League championships, and five consecutive appearances at the Region 1 Championships. He holds NCSAA Advanced and Premiere diplomas, and a Full License from the FA in England.

Colin has been Head Coach at Dominican College since 2012 and an assistant prior to that. During his tenure, Dominican has gone to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament four times and the NCAA East Regional in 2009 and 2010. He is a 2008 graduate of Dominican, where as a defender he helped the team reach its first-ever berth in the NCAA Division II national tournament. Colin holds a USSF National "A" License and resides with wife Megan in Hopewell Junction, N.Y.

Before coming to MSC in 2013, Chip was Head Coach and Coaching Coordinator of Super Soccer Stars and NY Stars Premier, overseeing successful programs for young players across the city. Chip grew up in Michigan and Florida and played his collegiate soccer at Brevard College in North Carolina. He holds an NSCASA National Diploma and a USYSA National Youth License.
Patrick is the U8 Division Supervisor and coach of the Boys 2009 premier team, and an assistant coach to NYCFC affiliate teams. Patrick attended SUNY Cortland where he received a BS in Physical Education and a MS in Coaching Pedagogy. After college he moved to Maryland where he was the Prince George’s County Girls’ Soccer Director, a high school AD, teacher, girls’ varsity coach and a club coach. His High Point HS girls’ team was ranked top 4 in their region multiple times and he coached the school’s first 3 all-state players. He later went on to receive a MA in Sport-Exercise Psychology and has his own practice, focusing on using mental skills to enhance performance. He holds a NSCAA National Diploma.
Coach Avaleen "Ave" Blake was born in Jamaica with soccer in my blood, but but it wasn't until high school that she really fell in love with the game. At Elmont High school she graduated early as a junior in the top percentile and earned an All Conference Player title for the District Soccer team. At Mercy College she received an athletic scholarship and went on to play Div 2 soccer and became a 4x Letter winner. At Mercy College she studied behavioral science/child education. After college she pursued a coaching career, coaching for Super soccer stars, Riverdale High school as the JV head coach for 2yrs, and at Berkeley Carroll High School as the assistant of the Varsity & JV Coach since 2014. She also holds an USSF National D Coaching License and pursuing her NSCAA national Diploma. She's First Aid & CPR certificates, and has won a Double coach award in 2011. She's also coach and trained for Chelsea FC Girls Clinics, Arsenal Soccer School - NYC summer camp, and Nike+ as a Soccer and Fitness trainer/coach. Here at MSC she has coached several of our girls youth teams, earning division titles and top tournament wins.

Now in his 15th year at MSC, Patrick was instrumental in the creation of the U8-U12 Youth Academy and continues to specialize on early-stage player development. MSC Pride, one of his first teams, went on to win the 2013 U19 State Cup with many of the same girls Patrick coached as 8 year olds. U15 Santos, who he coached through U13, continue to be ranked in the top teams in the nation. Patrick also teaches English at De La Salle Academy, a middle school for academically gifted students. Patrick holds NSCAA Director of Coaching, Premier and Goalkeeping licenses as well as the USYSA National Youth License.

Cheryl Price played youth soccer for the Yorktown Jaguars, was a 6-year member of the ENY Olympic Development Program, and was a 4-year starter for her varsity high school team where she was also captain and selected to the all-state team. Cheryl played Division 1 soccer at Northeastern University and played at the semi-pro level after college. She was the coach at Our Lady of Lourdes High School and Middlepath FC in LaGrange, NY. Cheryl is a Staff Member of the NY State ODP, holds a USSF State 5 Referee badge and is pursuing a national referee badge. She currently holds a NSCAA National Diploma, an Advanced Goalkeeping 1 Diploma, and a USSF “D” license.

Orlando has been the Head Coach of the Riverdale Country School Girls Varsity for 15 seasons, where he's led the Lady Falcons to four NYSAIS state championships. In 2010 he was selected Girls Coach of the Year by the New York Post, and in 2011 was selected as the Head Coach for the All-City Independent School team in the NYC Mayor's Cup. Orlando currently holds a NSCAA youth diploma and a USSF National “C” license.

Paul played internationally for his native Scotland, winning the European Championship as a youth player and playing professionally for Glasgow Celtic. Paul played his college soccer at Harvard University where he captained the 1986 team that made it to the NCAA Final Four, Harvard's best finish ever. In addition to his teams, Paul oversees MSC's skills clinics and special programs.
James is a native of Glasgow Scotland where he grew up playing soccer at school level and the Boys Brigade club in Bearsden. He started his soccer coaching education at Capital Area Soccer League in North Carolina, where he earned his USSF F, E and D licenses. He then started his coaching career working for Carolina United as an Assistant Coach from 1998 - 2000. While in North Carolina James also was the Head JV and Assistant Varsity Coach for both the Boys and the Girls at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh.
In 2000 James took a full time coaching job with United Soccer Academy in Branchburg NJ. He served as both a coach and trainer for many local clubs in both the travel and player development programs. In addition to coaching at United Soccer Academy, James worked in the marketing department. In 2004 James took a break from coaching and entered into the US Coast Guard on Active Duty. In 2009, James was stationed in NYC and again got back into the coaching world. He helped to establish the Bridgewater Soccer Association's High School Elite Program run by Go Soccer FC. James work with Go Soccer FC involved coaching and training at the high school age level in the club. During this time, James was also the Raritan Valley Community College Head Women's Coach (March 2010 - Nov 2011).
In 2013 James left the US Coast Guard to pursue his passion for soccer on a full time bases. He started as the Boys Assistant Coach at Rutgers Preparatory School in the fall of 2013 and then served as the Head Varsity Girls Coach from Nov 2013 - March 2016. During this time, James was also employed by The Eastern Development Program (EDP) as a Regional Director. In addition, James continued coaching at the club level at Match Fit Academy FC, where he coached the 2002 Boys in the North East Pre Academy League and EDP. Coach James is currently the Assistant Coach Women's Soccer at Saint Peters University, a Division 1 program currently playing in the MAAC.
Coach James's coaching philosophy is very simple: Teach our young players the right way to train, develop and enjoy the game. By doing this players will play an attractive brand of soccer.
